How to figure out a flashing service light on your Sub-Zero and what does it mean.
There are several reasons why the service light maybe flashing. The most common ones are:
1. Dirty condenser coil.
2. Freon leak on the refrigerator side.
3. Bad condenser fan motor.
To clear the service light: problem must be fixed then press and hold Bell ON/OFF button for 15 seconds.
“EE” code means a bad thermistor.
NOTE: For thermistor errors described below, thermistor can be tested by submersing it in a glass of ice water for 2
to 5 minutes, then check for 30,000 to 33,000 ohms.
“ – - ” Double Dashes Displayed = Fridge or freezer is disabled. When you manually turn off one of the compartments.
“EC” means Error Code.

20 Defrost Under-heat – Either Defrost System Problem or Left the door open possibly.
21 Defrost Overheat – Wiring bad or board possibly.
22 No Voltage Feedback Through Gray/White Wire at Defrost Start, wiring or board is bad.
23 Defrost Overheat with No Voltage Feedback through Gray/White Wire at Defrost Start, wiring or board.
24 Defrost Under-heat – most common, where there is a freon leak on the fridge side.
30 Excessive Icemaker Water Valve Solenoid Activation (Exceeded 15 Seconds) – bad ice maker or wiring
40 Freezer Compressor Runs too much – Sealed system failure, fan motors failure or left the door open
50 Refrigerator Compressor Runs too much- Sealed system failure, fan motors failure or left the door open
Forced start for sub-zero: If you don’t want to wait for the fridge or freezer compressor to start running, you can force start them if you press and hold the desired compartment’s colder button and unit on/off button simultaneously for 10 seconds.
