style="text-align: justify">Many residents of Orange County can be absolutely fanatical when it comes to performing routine maintenance on their cars, computers, or hair styles, for that matter. But how often do any of us really think about the routine maintenance our home appliances need? Most of us, if we are honest, would have to answer, “Well, not very often”.

Home appliances, just like vehicles, need a little TLC from time to time if we want to get the most life out of them and the best performance. The good news is the vast majority of routine maintenance required can be started and finished in no time flat and can be performed using only a few simple tools which most people already have. So, how does one get started doing this important work? And, this is important work as we shall see in a moment.

The very best place to start with any type of appliance is with the owner’s manual that came with the appliance. If you do not have or cannot find your booklet, you can often find copies online which you can print out.

If your home appliance requires periodic maintenance it will say so in your manual. The more modern the appliance, and the more features it has, the more likely it is that it will need some type of maintenance. Your booklet will tell you exactly what needs to be done and it will also tell you (often in step-by-step form) how to perform the task.

No matter what type of maintenance you are planning to do or what type of appliance it is you will be working on, always read the task instructions first. Do this before you start taking anything off of the appliance. Why? Many routine maintenance tasks require that you have a replacement part on hand in order to complete the job. This is especially true when it comes to changing out old filters that may be a part of an appliance’s system (water dispensing on frigs, for example). You need to know that can get the part you need before you actually go digging into the appliance. This will save you a lot of frustration later on.

When performing any type of routing maintenance it is critical that you follow any safety instructions that are given. For instance, if the instructions say to unplug the appliance, do so. Those instructions are there for a reason and not following them can result in injury to yourself or to the appliance.

The best reasons for doing this maintenance is that it helps to extend the life of the appliance, regardless of the type of appliance it is. Maintenance also helps to keep the appliance working to its full capacity. Both of these are excellent reasons to spend a few minutes with your appliances.

If you find that you do not understand some part of the instructions, or if you simply wish for us to do the work for you, give us a call. We are always happy to assist and will do our best to help.

How Important is Quality Training When It Comes to Appliance Repairs?

Appliance Repair

appliance repair in orange county

appliance repair news

Appliance Repair Tips

ca

If you live in Orange County, CA, you already know how important education and training is when it comes to getting quality results. This is true in all walks of life, and it is equally true when it comes to appliance repair and service companies in Orange County. But, just how important is it, really, for appliance repairs? Let’s take a look.

Smith Brother’s Appliance Repair has long known the value and importance of education and training when it comes to keeping their repair techs up to date on the latest brands and repair news. With so many modern appliances using advanced technology today it is all but mandatory that appliance repair companies be on top of what is happening in the industry if they (the repair company) want to remain competitive. The old days when a person with a bag of hand tools and a bit of experience could fix appliances are over. Today’s modern repair person must be knowledgeable in a variety of areas if he or she wants to complete an appliance repair in a timely manner.

The problem, of course, is that many so-called appliance repair technicians have no training or experience in working with advanced appliances which often contain computer chips, digital displays, and other advanced technologies. Because they have little or no experience or training, the chances of getting the repair completed fast are very slim indeed.

The appliance repair techs who work for us have the training and experience that they need to get the job done right the first time. In fact, we specialize in some of the most famous and popular appliance brands on the market. For instance, when it comes to refrigerator repairs, we can service all major brands such as GE, Viking, Hotpoint, Jenn-air, GE Monogram and Profile, Dacor, Samsung, Miele, Bosch, Thermador, Whirlpool, Sub Zero, Amana, LG, and Maytag to name a few.

This high degree of training is also available for all other appliances including washers and dryers, freezers, ovens, stoves, and dishwasher. There is virtually no appliance that we cannot service if called upon to do so. And because of our confidence in our training and experience, we can offer our customers some of the best guarantees and warranties in all of Orange County. Companies that do not put much value on advanced training will often have much less to offer when it comes to customer satisfaction.

Your time is valuable and you certainly want your appliance back in working order as quickly as possible. When you hire competent, trained personnel to do your appliance repairs, you are much more likely to get the high-quality results that you want and that you deserve. Training, knowledge, and experience really do matter when it comes to repairing appliances in Orange County.

If you are having problems with any of your home appliances, give us a call at (888) 878-7227. Our service call is Free if we do the job for you. And don’t forget, we offer 24 hour emergency assistance.

How To Avoid Being Ripped Off by Appliance Repair Companies in Orange County

Appliance Repair

appliance repair in orange county

appliance repair news

Appliance Repair Tips

ca

No one likes being cheated, lied to, or ripped off, but that sort of thing happens everyday in Orange County and every other county in the U.S. While Smith Brothers Appliance Repair and Service cannot advise you on how to handle every situation, we can share some tips with you on how to avoid being ripped off by appliance repair companies in Orange County. We can do this because we have been in business a long, long time and we know what to look for when it comes to low-quality work. We want you to know this information, too.

Credentials Matter: When looking for a quality appliance repair company, ask about their credentials. Do they have the proper licenses and insurance? Do they have technicians who have been trained and certified by the major brands? Do they have references that they are willing to share with you?

Companies that avoid answering these important questions are usually those that have not been business for long and have little or no experience and training working on appliances. They may have learned their skills (if you can call it that) by working alone or with another person in a garage or something. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but it is not the level of professionalism consumers want and deserve when it comes to getting their appliances repaired.

Fast Service: The vast majority of professional appliance repair companies in Orange County understand the important of delivering fast service. They know that their customers want their appliances back in work order as quickly as possible. For this reason, appliance repair companies such as ours carry spare parts on our repair trucks. If we do not have a particular part, we know how to get it fast.

Truly professional repair companies will also have trained and experienced repair technicians who know what they are doing and get the job finished in a timely manner. Because of their training and experience, these skilled men and women are almost always able to complete the repair on-site. Consumers should always be leery of companies that say that they have to take the appliance back to the shop in order to repair it. While a few major repairs such as replacing motors or transmissions may require a trip to the shop, the vast majority of repairs can be made on the spot.

Companies that want to take your appliance to their shop when the repair is minor should always be avoided. It does not require a trip to the shop to replace a belt, adjust a tension bar, or balance a washing machine. In some cases, the reason for taking the appliance out of the home or business place is simply because the person on the scene does not know how to make the repair and must rely on someone who is working at the shop to do the work. In a few other cases, the trip to the shop will come back as an added charge to your bill!

Keep the above in mind and you will be better prepared to spot appliance repair companies that you should avoid.

Am I Delirious or Is My Washer Really Broke?

Appliance Repair

washer repairs

When money gets tight, many homeowners (and business owners) will attempt to make their own repairs on appliances that are not working as they should be or are not working at all. While there are many simple repairs that most people can perform on their own, there are other appliance repairs that should only be performed by trained professionals. The trick is knowing which is which.

In very broad terms, there are two types of appliance repairs that most homeowners and business owners should not attempt. These are repairs that deal with electricity and with natural gas. In both cases, major damage, fires, injuries, and even death can occur if the repairs are not made properly and safely.

Unless a person is well-versed in working with electricity, they should leave these repairs to the pros. Many individuals believe, and rightfully so, that disconnecting the power from the appliance is the first step when making these types repairs. This is true and the experts will attest to it. However, one of the major causes of accidents and death that occurs when a homeowner is working on an electric appliance comes “after” the person believes he or she has made the repair.

For instance, many repair jobs that involve the electrical system of an appliance require new wires or new wiring. When electric wires are not installed properly, shorts and shocks are almost certain to follow. In many cases the wires that were repaired may “look” like they were installed properly, but, in essence, were not. It is not hard to get wires crossed, especially when working with older models of appliances. A loose connection or a bad connection can also lead to fires once the power is returned to the appliance.

Unless a person is an experienced plumber or have a great deal of experience working with gas appliances, this type of repair should also be left to the pros. Most people know that they need to close the gas line before they begin work. The major problem that occurs with gas appliances (as is true with electric appliances) often comes after the person believes the repair was completed.

Many repair jobs on gas appliances require work on gas jets, gas lines, and other parts that are connected to the gas system itself. If the new connections are not made perfectly, gas leaks will occur. These leaks can vary from small ones to large ones, but in all cases, gas can (and will) accumulate. Once a flame comes into contact with this built-up gas, fires and even explosions can happen. Many times these fires and explosions result in complete loss of property and injury (or death) to those in the immediate area. A gas leak can also lead to asphyxiation if it is undetected.

Making your own appliance repairs is a smart move and can save you money, just make sure you are up to the task, have the right tools and equipment, spare parts, and instructions for making the repair correctly.

Are Home Cooks Happy? style="text-align: justify;">In any given year, homes across Orange County, Ca will be filled with the scents of delicious foods. There are holidays and special events galore when food often takes center stage. But are those who cook these wonderful meals happy about cooking. The answer may surprise you.

In a survey from Samsung Electronics America, more than 88 percent of those who cook holiday meals say that they are happy doing it and plan to continue cooking holiday meals in the coming year. While this is an impressive number, to be sure, it should also be noted that an estimated 66 percent of those who responded to the survey said they felt that they could have done a better job with at least some part of the overall meal.

The number one issue of those who felt they had not done their very best had to do with the timing of the feast. A little over 20 percent said they felt their timing off. Next in line, coming in at about 16 percent were those who said that they had not invested enough pre-planning time into the meal. It should not be a surprise to anyone that 15 percent reported that the biggest issue they had with holiday cooking was the amount of work and time they had to spend hand-washing all of those dishes! If there is a surprise here, it is that the number is so low!

Some of the comments made by those who felt they had not planned enough ahead are interesting. For instance, nearly 45 percent of those who responded confessed that they never plan for holiday meals; they just don’t do it. Another 10 percent said that they usually just play it by ear, so to speak. 14 percent said that they solve this problem by asking those who will be coming to bring dishes with them, and the more who bring prepared dished to the get together the better! Over 8 percent of those who do not pre-plan the meal say that they have a few drinks to help settle their nerves. It was reported, however, that about 2 percent of those responding said they do a practice run before the holiday to make sure all is well.

Another question was asked concerning having people in the kitchen during the cooking process. About 45 percent said that they like it and put those people to work chopping, washing dished, setting the table, etc. That is good thinking!

Nearly 47 percent of holiday cooks said that they always make and serve drink or snacks as a way of getting the party started. However, over 60 percent said that they did NOT like being watched too closely by others as they went about the cooking. At the top of that list was being watched by spouse, family members, and siblings. And as for shopping, well, 78 percent reported that they have to make as many as three visits to the stores to get everything. 22 percent said they had to make more than four visits to get everything they needed.

Appliance Repair Tips that Can Save You Money

Appliance Repair

appliance repair in orange county

appliance repair news

Appliance Repair Tips

ca

A home appliance is like any other machine. It has any number of parts, some of them static and some moving. These parts will, at times, stop working properly or stop working completely. Depending on the part or system that is malfunctioning, the entire appliance may stop working. But, as is true with other machines, some preventive maintenance can help prevent major breakdowns.

There is a saying in medicine that “prevention is the best cure”. By taking a few precautions before a problem arises, homeowners can often extend the life of their appliances and keep them working in tip-top shape. Here are a few tips that you might find useful.

1. Safety First! Virtually all modern home appliances run on electricity or gas. You should NEVER attempt to make a repair on an appliance until you turn off its power source or stop the gas from flowing. Unplug electric appliances or shut off the circuit breaker to that appliance before you begin work. For gas appliances, close the gas valve and bleed the lines if needed. It is a sad but true fact that many Americans are killed or injured each year when they fail to obey the safety rules. Don’t let that happen to you.

2. Check the Owners Manual: If you encounter a problem with your appliance, begin by looking at the owner’s manual that came with it. Many times you will find a troubleshooting guide that can help you diagnose the problem and fix it. If you do not have a manual, check online as many of the major brands now offer free access to these publications.

3. Whenever possible, make sure you can get the repair parts that you will need before you start disassembling the appliance. Sometimes you may not know what you need until you get into the appliance, but always try to give yourself as much time as possible in case you have to order a part. If you find that you need a part but are having a hard time finding it, give us a call. We may have the part you need or be able to guide you to another company that does have the part.

4. Your owner’s manual will often contain routine maintenance tasks that should be followed. Most, if not all, of these tasks can be accomplished with only a few simple hand tools. For instance, many modern refrigerators dispense water. These systems often have a filter on the water line that needs to be replaced or cleaned periodically. If a filter becomes clogged, slow water flow will appear. In extreme cases, no water at all will flow through the system.

5. style="text-align: justify">With the economy the way it is in Orange County, homeowners are stretching every dollar as far as possible. One of the most expensive costs that a homeowner can face is when a major appliance fails to operate or operates poorly. It is no secret that home appliances today can cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. The good news is that many times an appliance can be repaired to full working order for a fraction of what a new appliance would cost.

As you know, the average home can contain several appliances. These often include stoves, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, and dishwashers. All of these appliances can be expensive to replace if they stop working. But, even though they can be expensive to replace, they almost always have to be replaced in order for the homeowner to continue living as they were. For instance, it can be very difficult to live without a refrigerator in Orange County, even on the coolest of days. This is an appliance that has to be working in the home. That is a simple fact.

Buying a new frig can costs hundreds of dollars, if not more, these days. Even lower quality brands can be too expensive for many families. A much better option is to first have a qualified and experienced appliance repair person look at the refrigerator to see if it can be repaired. Repair technicians who know what they are doing and have experience in working on various types and brands of appliances are often able to get an appliance back into full working order. This saves you money!

But there are other benefits as well.

First of all, if you work with an appliance repair company in Orange County that has experienced technicians, you will often see that your appliance is back in working order faster than if you had gone shopping for a new appliance and then waiting for it to be delivered to your home or place of business. Trained technicians can make many repairs within an hour or so and do those repairs right on-site. This is not always the case, but by and large, it is. The less time you are without your appliance, the better.

Second, you will often find that the better appliance repair companies in Orange County carry repair parts on their trucks. Not only does arriving on the site prepared to make the repair cut down on the repair time, but it can often save you money as well. Many appliance repair companies are able to offer savings to their customers in a variety of ways, and one way it offer repair parts for less than they would cost elsewhere.

Third, the vast majority of truly professional appliance repair companies in OC will offer their customers warranties and guarantees on parts and labor. This means that the homeowner or business owner can be confident that the work was performed correctly, and if there are any issues, those issues can be resolved quickly. Not all appliance repair companies offer the high level of security that you find with Smith Brothers Appliance and Repair. Know how a company will back up its work and parts before agreeing to hire them is important, so make sure you get the information that you need in advance.

LG WD-1252RD7: Washing machine with six motion features

Appliance Repair

official website of LG is that it boasts of Six Motion DD’s namely Stepping (exerts pressure on the clothes without resulting in tangled clothes), Filtration (removes all detergent residues), Rolling (makes use of gravity to clean clothes while at the same time being gentle on the fabric), Tumbling (gives superior washing quality while being gentle on the clothes), Scrubbing (distributes even washing to the clothes), and Swing (gives delicate wash to sensitive clothes). All of these motion caters to different washing needs.

Aside from these motion features, the LG WD-1252RD7 has an inverter direct drive system. This feature increases the motor’s stability and lessens vibrations making the motor more energy-efficient. Another amazing feature is the Smart Diagnosis–it automatically tells you what’s wrong with the unit with the use of your smartphone.

With this kind of appliance, what else is there to wait for in washing machine technology?

How To Know If You Need Your Stove Repaired

Appliance Repair

Stove Repaired
<guid
